Description:
This course is designed to provide the student the skills necessary to conduct safe and thorough law enforcement vessel operations. The course focuses on subject management and arrest afloat, tactical awareness and officer safety considerations afloat, review of Federal, State and Local Boating laws, vessel handling and boarding preparations, and vessel close quarters maneuvering. This course will include a two day exercise consisting of various scenario's commonly associated with law enforcement afloat. This exercise will test the students ability to apply previous training in use of force and effective communications with the officer safety and survival techniques delineated in this course.

Terminal Performance Objective:
Given a scenario, the student will demonstrate proficiency in conducting a safe and thorough boarding, safe and proficient vessel maneuvering in close quarters situations, and a thorough understanding of officer safety and survival afloat issues.

Interim Performance Objectives:
1. Identify hazards associated with law enforcement afloat not commonly found in land based operations.
2. Identify pre boarding procedures and considerations.
3. Demonstrate the ability to maneuver a vessel in a close quarters situation.
4. Demonstrate subject management techniques and arrest procedures afloat.
5. Demonstrate the knowledge and application of your agencies use of force policy in a scenario based training exercise.
6. Demonstrate a proper and safe law enforcement boarding in a scenario based training exercise.

Method of Evaluation:
1. Demonstrate proficiency during laboratory and field exercise.
