Ship Interdiction Training

Ship Interdiction Training Course

The Ship Interdiction Training Course is designed to provide participants with the skills and techniques necessary to plan, board, search and seize large river and ocean-going vessels.

The training is geared towards Law Enforcement Port Police and USCG personnel assigned to MSST, PSU, Sea Marshall, MSO's, Boarding Teams, and VBST units.  Like all NMLEA courses, this class can be tailored in length and content to best suit your department's or unit's mission.

Officer safety is stressed throughout the course, as are team assignments and team/individual movement.  Classroom sessions and practical scenarios emphasize approaching and boarding the vessel.  Once onboard, teams will utilize their skills in searches, combative and non-compliant subjects and securing vital areas including the engine room and bridge.

Topics also include ship nomenclature, classifications, equipment selection, deck searching formations, onboard hazards, basic close quarters tactics, crew & passenger handling, small and large scale operations and surveillance / intelligence gathering.
