Firefighter Water Rescue Technician

The Firefighter Water Rescue Technician course is an advanced program developed to provide individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to recognize, react and respond to a water rescue situation.  This knowledge and skills will help to prepare them for the unique challenges found in the maritime environment.

This 40-hour (5 day) course is designed to provide the responder with the knowledge to conduct in-water offensive open water and flooding related rescues.  The first two days of this course is Swift Water Rescue training.  Successful completion of this training is a prerequisite to continue with the remaining hours to complete the water rescue technician level training.  This course exceeds NFPA 1670 requirements for Water Search and Rescue Technician level certification.
