Firefighter Basic Water Survival Course

Firefighter Basic Water Survival Course

The Firefighter Basic Water Survival course focuses on the special challenges faced by first responders who operate in and around aquatic environments.  Firefighters are often tasked with responding to situations that present water based hazards including flooded basements and elevator shafts, covered pools, flash floods, and waterfront exposures.

This course will provide firefighters faced with life threatening aquatic situations the skills needed to perform critical decision making techniques and tactics.  Students will learn to survive in water over their heads and in full turnout gear weighing close to 100 lbs.  This course is taught through the use of classroom and pool based practical sessions.

Students will be taking part in exhaustive swimming drills and scenario based exercises where they must show the ability to function in a maritime envirnoment.  This program includes innovative and cutting edge training.  Students will be exposed to situations and stressors that will inoculate them to the extreme shock and emotional duress that occur during aquatic incidents.
